A Historic Grammy Awards

The 67th annual Grammy Awards took stage and definitely left an impact in the music world. Notable winners included Kendrick Lamar, who took home 5 Grammys for Best Rap Song, Record of the Year, Best Music Video, Song of the Year, and Best Rap Performance with Not Like Us. and Beyoncé, who won Best Country Album, and Album of the Year with Cowboy Carter.

Chicago also had reason to celebrate as two Chicago artists won big at the Grammys. Lil Durk, an Englewood native, won Best Melodic Rap Performance with All My Life.

Lil Durk is regarded as one of the pioneers of Chicago drill music, and is also one of the most successful rappers from Chicago.

J. Ivy, a South Side native, won Best Spoken Word Poetry Album with his album The Light Inside.
